LITWaco

LITWaco is a vital 501(c)(3) faith based nonprofit organization that exists to organize a positive, enriching environment contributing to an improved quality of life for our young adults and their families. Established in 2015, the organization’s projects, implemented by a well-trained staff, emphasize character development and change disadvantaged individuals from the inside out.

According to the National Assessment of Adult Literacy (2003), 93 million American adults, or about 45% of the adult population, have limited reading, writing, and math skills. In Texas, where 32% of residents speak a language other than English at home, adult illiteracy is a prevalent issue.

We will provide youth, young adults, and their families with the tools needed to find the path to long-term sustainability and achievement. We believe that literacy constitutes the only sure avenue of opportunity for disadvantaged youth and that to be literate ensures that one has access to the basic information they need to function and thrive in the modern world.

Our mission is to glorify God by making disciples of all nations. We are joining hands with faith families all around our city to transform individuals, families, churches, and entire communities through the application of God’s word. We will align ourselves with the path God has set before us in the bible.

Our vision is to see all individuals who come to us achieve a higher level of literacy and obtain the tools and guidance needed to help both themselves and those around them.

Individual empowerment, self-determination and accountability are strong components of LITWaco Initiated by Executive Director Keith Guillory, the organization was conceived and organized to address the mental, physical, and emotional needs of the disadvantaged population in the community, to counteract failure, and to assist in the successful transition to a productive life in a positive environment with long lasting self-sufficiency.
